Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has expressed the Coalition Government’s commitment to addressing public expectations and improving infrastructure in Fiji. During an interview on FBC TV’s Your Voice, he acknowledged the progress made since the government took office but emphasized that several long-neglected infrastructural issues still need attention.
Prasad noted that while significant improvements have been made within just two and a half years, comprehensive repairs and enhancements cannot be executed overnight. However, he assured that the government is dedicated to gradual and sustained improvements over time. “Many people appreciate how much this government inherited and what has been accomplished so far,” he remarked, highlighting the positive feedback from the public.
Furthermore, he mentioned that citizens are increasingly willing to express their concerns, considering this an essential aspect of fostering a transparent democracy. This open dialogue between the government and the public is welcomed, and he stressed the importance of acting upon the feedback received to further enhance governance.
In his discussion, Prasad recognized that some prominent projects, such as initiatives aimed at reducing non-revenue water, cannot be achieved instantly. Yet, he emphasized that progress is being made towards these goals. He stated, **“What matters is our commitment to act and see that things get done.”** This reflection aligns with his previous remarks regarding the government’s proactive stance in addressing health care, infrastructure, and road issues that have garnered public attention.
Prasad’s positive outlook on the government’s trajectory underscores a broader commitment to building a resilient Fiji. With constructive criticism from the community being embraced and addressed, the foundations for long-term stability and improvement appear promising as the government continues to refine its strategies and policies. By focusing on enhancing public services and infrastructure, the Coalition Government is setting the stage for a brighter future for all Fijians, highlighting a collaborative approach to national progress.
