FENC Fiji Launches Child Education Support Scheme for Vulnerable Children

Fiji Opens Six-Week School Materials Aid for Disadvantaged Children

The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) has introduced its Child Education Support Scheme to supply essential school materials to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The initiative aims to ease the financial burden of educational expenses on families and emphasizes the foundation’s dedication to providing educational access to all eligible children.

Collaborating with the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development, FENC Fiji is ensuring application forms are available through district offices, facilitating nationwide reach. This coordinated effort reflects the foundation’s determination to extend support to children across the country. With expectations that demand for the scheme will exceed the previous year’s support of over 7,000 children, the application window opens today, lasting six weeks until November 8th.

FENC Fiji, since its establishment in 2009, has aided over 39,000 children. Annual funding of approximately $300,000 from the Fijian government and private donors highlights the foundation’s essential role in combatting educational inequities and encouraging academic endeavors.

The initiative significantly contributes to overcoming socio-economic barriers that hinder children’s access to quality education. By providing necessary educational materials, the foundation not only helps keep students in school but also reduces the financial stress on families, offering a brighter future for the nation’s youth.

The Child Education Support Scheme is a vital opportunity to enhance educational access and success for underprivileged communities in Fiji, marking a step towards enduring positive transformation.
