The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Child Education Support Scheme. This scheme provides crucial back-to-school assistance to children from the most disadvantaged families in Fiji, aligning with the organization’s ongoing mission to break the cycle of poverty through education. Since its inception in 2009, FENC Fiji has supported over 39,000 children, ensuring they receive essential educational materials to succeed academically.
For the current application cycle, students from early childhood education up to Year 13 will benefit from receiving school bags, books, and stationery to help them prepare for the upcoming school year. This initiative is especially meaningful given the increasing financial pressures many families face, further intensified by broader economic challenges.
Applications are readily accessible through various channels, including FENC Fiji’s website, Facebook page, Selfless Fiji, and the Ministry of Rural and Disaster Management offices, with hard copies available in local communities. All completed applications, with the necessary documentation, must be submitted by November 8, 2025. FENC Fiji emphasizes the importance of timely submissions to facilitate the efficient purchase and distribution of supplies.
Submissions can be made in person at the FENC Fiji office in Samabula, district offices, or sent via post to P.O. Box 2201, Government Buildings, Suva. The foundation underscores the importance of this drive, ensuring that no child is left behind in their educational journey due to financial constraints.
FENC Fiji’s efforts are complemented by initiatives from the Fijian government, which has also actively supported education for low-income families through its Back-to-School Support program. The government’s initiative, now in its third year, reflects a broader commitment to remove financial barriers to education and enhance learning opportunities for all children. Together, these efforts highlight a communal dedication to nurturing the educational aspirations of Fiji’s youth, providing them a hopeful path towards a better future.
