The Fiji Netball Association (FNA) is set to undergo significant changes as they convened a meeting to discuss revisions to their constitution. The gathering, which included 13 dedicated members, aimed to establish a clear and equitable vision for the future of netball in Fiji.
Vivian Koster, a former CEO of Netball Fiji and current Oceania Netball Regional director, highlighted the significance of this meeting, describing it as the beginning of a transformative year with hopes of finalizing a new constitution. She commended the commitment of the involved members, emphasizing their collaborative efforts in reviewing and implementing necessary changes.
“We started off the new year with what we hope is the final draft of our new constitution; it has been a long process,” Koster shared. She acknowledged the hard work of the 13-member group, noting their thorough examination of the constitution and the diligent changes made.
The primary focus of the proposed changes revolves around the governance structure of Netball Fiji. The association plans to transition from an executive committee to a board of management, a development that has been anticipated for some time.
“It’s going to be a new structure for Netball Fiji, and a new way of doing things. We are setting everything in place for the year,” Koster stated. She emphasized that these changes aim to enhance the governance framework, moving away from an executive committee to a more structured board of management.
Koster underscored the importance of a strong and comprehensive document that eliminates loopholes and reflects the growth of all netball clubs and associations in Fiji. “We must ensure that this is a robust document, and that every Netball club and Association sees their growth represented within it,” she said.
The meeting was characterized as productive, with multiple discussions leading to significant agreements on the new constitutional framework. With the aim of establishing a solid foundation for the future of netball in Fiji, the FNA is optimistic about the path ahead. The collective effort to create a resilient constitution positions the association for progressive growth and development in the sport for years to come.
