The Public Service Commission (PSC) has named Peni Sikivou as the new permanent secretary for National Planning, Development, and Statistics. This appointment, made with the Prime Minister’s consent, is viewed as a significant step towards strengthening leadership within vital public service areas.
Luke Rokovada, the PSC chairman, emphasized Mr. Sikivou’s impressive background, which encompasses over 30 years of experience in both government and regional institutions. His extensive expertise includes economic planning, project planning, financial management, and monitoring and evaluation, making him a valuable addition to the ministry.
Mr. Sikivou’s previous work at the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat in Vanuatu highlights his regional impact and commitment to addressing pressing development issues. He holds a Master of Science degree in macro-economic policy and planning for developing countries from the University of Bradford in the UK, and he is currently pursuing a PhD, further demonstrating his dedication to enhancing his knowledge and skills in this field.
