Lui Naisara has assumed the role of Chairman of the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Board in Fiji, a move highlighting his extensive background in the civil service, particularly within the domains of transport, energy, and policy development. Ro Filipe Tuisawau, the Minister overseeing the LTA, emphasized Naisara’s depth of experience as essential for steering the LTA towards ensuring road safety across Fiji.
Throughout his distinguished career, Naisara has served in several high-ranking government positions, including Deputy Secretary for Transport and Energy within the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, and the Ministry of Works, Transport and Energy. Minister Tuisawau praised Naisara’s leadership capabilities and his comprehensive grasp of the transport sector’s complexities. He expressed confidence that Naisara’s leadership would help the LTA transform into a modern, responsive, and community-oriented organization.
Academically, Naisara holds a Master’s degree in Transport Management from the University of Sydney, a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics, a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific, and a Diploma in Transport Management and Planning from Galilee College, Israel. These credentials enhance his considerable practical experience and align seamlessly with his responsibilities as Chairman.
Naisara’s appointment comes at a crucial time, coinciding with larger governmental endeavors to bolster Fiji’s transportation infrastructure. These efforts, spearheaded by leaders including Assistant Minister for Transport Naisa Tuinaceva, aim to tackle pressing issues such as traffic congestion, notably in the Suva-Nausori corridor. Plans to upgrade road networks and explore innovative public transit solutions, like electric buses, reflect Fiji’s commitment to modernizing its transportation framework and driving economic growth.
Under Naisara’s guidance, the LTA is expected to make substantial contributions to these initiatives, laying a robust foundation for achieving strategic objectives effectively. With his leadership, there is optimism for notable progress in Fiji’s transportation infrastructure, aspiring to improve the quality of life for its citizens across the nation.
