Fiji Mourns Public Service Legend Ratu Isoa Rokowasadromu Talemaibua

The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management in Fiji has sadly announced the passing of its Permanent Secretary, Ratu Isoa Rokowasadromu Talemaibua. He died on Saturday after a short illness, leaving behind a legacy of impactful public service and financial leadership.

Ratu Isoa was widely admired for his contributions as a financial strategist and public servant. His career significantly influenced Fiji’s economic and development agendas. As the former Head of Budget and Planning at the Ministry of Finance, he played a key role in formulating fiscal policies and allocations that underpinned national growth. His leadership, marked by insight and balance, was enriched by his experience in the private sector.

In his role as Permanent Secretary, Ratu Isoa was instrumental in advancing efforts to enhance services in rural and maritime communities, and he was a staunch advocate for improving disaster preparedness and resilience programs in Fiji. His unwavering commitment to the people and his professional integrity left an indelible mark on colleagues and communities alike.

Upon his passing, protocols were observed with formal notification sent to the Prime Minister. Traditional ireguregu will be presented to his family and the Vanua of Naqau on Wednesday, followed by funeral rites in his home village of Matainoco, Buretu, Tailevu, on Friday.

The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, paying tribute to his life of service, humility, and dedication to the nation. His loss is particularly poignant given the recent passing of several other notable Fijian figures, including political and community leaders, emphasizing a period of significant mourning and reflection within the country.
