The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has shared the sad news of the passing of Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, who died on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The ministry expressed deep sorrow over his death, which occurred following the completion of traditional customs.
Dr. Tudravu’s career spanned more than thirty years in Fiji’s health sector, earning him a reputation for his outstanding dedication and service. He completed his specialist training at Newcastle Hospital in Australia before returning to Fiji, where he practiced as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. Throughout his career, he rose to various senior leadership roles, including Medical Superintendent at Lautoka Hospital and Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Chief Medical Advisor, and ultimately Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.
In February 2024, Dr. Tudravu was appointed Permanent Secretary, where he was respected for his humility, integrity, commitment, and compassion. Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, the Acting Permanent Secretary, expressed heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, commemorating the significant legacy that Dr. Tudravu leaves behind.
His contributions to the healthcare system have profoundly impacted the lives of many Fijians, and his legacy is likely to inspire future generations within the health sector.
