In a powerful address during the International Day of the Girl Child observance at Nakavika Primary School in the Namosi highlands, Sashi Kiran, Fiji’s Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, made an urgent plea to protect and promote the rights of girls within society. Kiran encouraged girls to embrace their identities, believe in their potential, and persist in their aspirations with hard work and kindness. She recognized the village’s dedication to education, commending the establishment of the local school in 2003, which improved access to education for girls and avoided the lengthy journeys to faraway schools.
