The Fiji Meteorological Service has officially lifted the heavy rain alert that was previously in effect across the country. Despite this, weather forecasts suggest that residents can expect some occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms in several regions. Areas impacted include the Coral Coast to Navua, Greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu, Interior Ra, Naitasiri, Serua-Namosi, parts of Northern Ra, Southern Bua, and Cakudrove provinces, in addition to the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and surrounding smaller islands.
Residents should remain vigilant as there may still be isolated heavy rainfall, which has the potential to cause flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. On the brighter side, other parts of the country are forecasted to experience generally fine weather, with only occasional afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms.
The Meteorological Service emphasizes the importance of staying informed and adhering to local weather updates to ensure safety during this transition in weather patterns. This proactive approach helps to mitigate risks associated with unexpected weather changes, reinforcing community resilience against natural elements.
