Fiji's Cartwheel 2025: A Global Military Drill Underway

Fiji Launches Exercise Cartwheel 2025 With Multinational Forces

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) recently launched a significant military exercise, Exercise Cartwheel 2025, which will run until November 11, 2025. This large-scale operation includes simulated gunfire and explosive training, prompting the RFMF to assure the public that any associated sounds should not cause alarm. The exercise is centered around areas surrounding Force Training Group, Wainibuku, Makoi, and Colo-i-Suva.

Participants in Exercise Cartwheel 2025 include troops from several countries, notably the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Tonga, and Japan. The RFMF emphasized that the primary goal of this exercise is to bolster coordination and enhance interoperability among Fiji and its international partners.

The RFMF described Exercise Cartwheel as an essential platform for fostering cooperation and readiness, stating, “Exercise Cartwheel has evolved into a crucial platform for building cooperation, readiness, and interoperability.” Troops will utilize blank ammunition and pyrotechnics during the drills to simulate realistic battle conditions, preparing them for real-life crisis scenarios.

To ensure public safety, residents are encouraged to stay informed and follow instructions from military personnel throughout the duration of the exercises. The RFMF expressed appreciation for the community’s understanding and support, highlighting the importance of these relationships in maintaining high readiness standards for emergency responses.

Exercise Cartwheel 2025 is a testament to Fiji’s commitment to regional security and preparedness for disaster response. It aligns with Fiji’s participation in prior multinational exercises like Exercise Talisman Sabre and Exercise Croix du Sud, which similarly aimed to enhance military capabilities and strengthen collaborative relationships among Pacific nations.

These ongoing drills not only improve the proficiency of the Fijian military but also foster unity and cooperation among nations confronting shared security challenges. Ultimately, this collaborative effort contributes to a more secure and hopeful future for the entire region.
