Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya, has formally begun his duties as Fiji’s non-resident Ambassador to Kuwait following the presentation of his Letters of Credence to Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. This significant ceremony serves to enhance the diplomatic, economic, and developmental relationships between Fiji and Kuwait.
During the event, Ambassador Koya extended warm greetings on behalf of Fiji’s President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, as well as the Fijian populace. He emphasized Fiji’s aspirations to increase labour mobility for Fijian citizens within the region, particularly focusing on industries such as healthcare, hospitality, security services, and technical trades.
Further, Ambassador Koya expressed Fiji’s eagerness to collaborate with Kuwait on various fronts, including trade, investment, tourism, climate-resilient infrastructure, agriculture, and clean energy initiatives. He reiterated Fiji’s openness to forming partnerships with both public and private entities, recognizing the potential for mutual benefits.
Additionally, the Ambassador acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and conveyed Fiji’s interest in engaging in future collaborations. This diplomatic engagement marks a hopeful advancement in fostering stronger ties that promise growth and prosperity for both nations.
