The Fiji Kulas are gearing up for their debut at the MSG Cup taking place in Papua New Guinea from November 10 to 22. Head coach Angeline Chua has stated that the team has been intensely focusing on training for the past two weeks, aiming to address areas of improvement identified during their previous tournament.
Despite being placed in a challenging pool, which includes the hosts Papua New Guinea and OFC Nations Cup winners Solomon Islands, the Kulas are embracing the opportunity to compete. Chua expressed confidence in her squad, remarking, “In the Oceania region, all the teams are improving. We have Solomon Islands who won the Nations Cup and PNG with their strong teams. Yes, all the teams in the tournament are strong.”
The team’s training sessions have been productive, and Chua believes they have adequate time left to fully prepare. The MSG Cup represents a crucial platform for the Kulas as they aspire to showcase their talent on an international stage.
This tournament not only provides the Kulas an opportunity to compete but also enhances the overall women’s football scene in Fiji, inspiring future generations of female athletes. With the blend of experienced players and emerging talents, the Kulas are poised to make a significant impact. Their journey at the MSG Cup is a testament to the growth of women’s football in the region, providing fans with exciting matches and a hopeful outlook for the future of the sport.
