The national women’s football team, the Fiji Kula, is gearing up for their FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania Qualifiers, set to begin tomorrow at the 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba. An emphasis on fitness and speed has been paramount during their preparation over the past few weeks.

Head coach Nicola Demaine, who took the helm in mid-January, has expressed her admiration for the players’ commitment to their conditioning, particularly given her recent integration into the team. She noted, “We’ve seen noticeable progress, particularly in our intensity and recovery. That’s going to be important in a tournament setting where turnaround time between matches is short.”

The Kula will kick off their qualifiers against New Caledonia at 4 PM tomorrow. Following that match, they are set to compete against Papua New Guinea on March 2, and will wrap up their pool matches on March 5 against Vanuatu, also at 4 PM.

With the team’s dedication to improvement and preparation, there is a hopeful atmosphere as they embark on this critical journey in the qualifiers. Their performance in this tournament will be closely watched, and there is optimism that their hard work will pay off on the field.
