The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) of Fiji has reinforced its dedication to fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities and respecting the integrity of the country’s court system. In light of the ongoing judicial review concerning the appointment of Lavi Rokoika as Acting Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), the Commission has chosen not to make public statements on the matter.
Acknowledging the rising public interest and media inquiries regarding Rokoika’s appointment, the JSC emphasized that the matter is currently being deliberated in the High Court of Fiji. Tomasi Bainivalu, Secretary to the JSC, stated, “The legality of Ms. Rokoika’s appointment is presently before the High Court,” underscoring the potential ramifications of engaging in public discourse while legal proceedings are ongoing.
