Police officials have confirmed that they have received the investigative file regarding Amelia Komaisavai, the suspended Director of Immigration, from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro announced that the files, which pertain to all immigration officers involved in the case, have been forwarded to the police for further action.
Ms. Komaisavai is currently on leave while an investigation is underway concerning the unlawful issuance of Fijian passports to the children of two members of the Grace Road Church. The ODPP disclosed that Komaisavai’s file was sent to the police last month, signaling significant progress in the ongoing inquiry.
This investigation has been developing since December of the previous year when the ODPP first indicated that the file, which includes implications against Komaisavai and several others, had been received. At that time, the ODPP reported that a comprehensive review of the evidence had been completed, and the file was returned to the police along with a summary of the office’s recommendations for moving forward.
As the investigation advances, both the police and the ODPP are expected to provide updates, highlighting their commitment to upholding accountability and integrity within the immigration system. These actions may not only address the current situation but also work toward rebuilding public trust in immigration procedures moving forward.
