Fiji IDC Goes Nighttime to Boost Fan Attendance

Fiji Football General Manager Operations Anushil Kumar has announced that a bustling week lies ahead as the much-anticipated FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC) kicks off on Tuesday. The tournament will showcase an exciting program, including special night fixtures aimed at accommodating fans who may not be able to attend daytime matches.

Kumar noted the heightened interest in the tournament, with strong ticket sales indicating that supporters are eager to witness one of Fiji football’s premier events. “We have considered that it will be a working day during our group matches, so we have decided to hold at least two night matches with 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. kickoffs. This way, working fans can enjoy two full matches, along with those who are able to enjoy the entire day’s program,” he explained.

The IDC is set to feature teams from Fiji’s traditional soccer towns, ensuring that as many fans as possible can be part of the excitement surrounding this football festivity that highlights the country’s vibrant domestic calendar.

The tournament’s opening day matches will kick off with Rewa facing Nadroga at 1:30 p.m., followed by Labasa taking on Nadi at 3:30 p.m. The official opening ceremony, conducted by the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Hon. Filimoni Vosarogo, will take place at 5:30 p.m. Evening matches include Lautoka competing against Suva at 6 p.m., and the hosts, Ba, wrapping up the day against Navua at 8 p.m.

Fans can also tune in to selected matches live on Radio Fiji Two, ensuring that everyone can be part of the thrilling atmosphere of the IDC.
