The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has recently announced a significant change in the lineup for the 2025 FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), set to be held from October 7th to 12th at 4R Stadium and Govind Park in Ba. Bua FC is set to replace Nadogo FC in the Senior Division, following Nadogo’s disqualification. Investigations uncovered that the Nadogo district had fabricated information about conducting its Regional Club League, leading to their exclusion.
This revelation prompted the Fiji FA to take stringent action, resulting in the indefinite suspension of Nadogo FA President Mohammed Yunus for misreporting to the governing body. A thorough investigation is to follow, ensuring adherence to league regulations.
Bua FC, which initially qualified for the Premier Division, finds itself back in the Senior Division following a compliance review revealing incomplete league matches. Despite this shuffle, Bua FC is now set to compete in Group A of the Senior Division, alongside Lami and Taveuni. Group B will feature Rakiraki, Savusavu, and Dreketi.
This shift comes amid broader disciplinary actions taken by Fiji FA against several districts, including Bua, for failing to meet regional competition guidelines. In past instances, points have been deducted from teams like Bua and Nadogo in the national league due to similar compliance issues, as announced earlier this year by Fiji FA officials during council meetings.
The reshuffling highlights the Fiji FA’s commitment to maintaining integrity and transparency within its competitions. With the upcoming championship, all eyes will be on Bua FC and whether they can capitalize on this opportunity, despite their recent setbacks. The Fiji FA continues to emphasize the importance of districts adhering strictly to regulations to secure the integrity and fairness of the competition.
