The Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Fiji has announced a strategic move to transfer health services from the Namaka Health Centre in Nadi to the Blackrock Medical Centre. This shift is necessary due to extensive renovations scheduled to begin on October 4, 2025, at the Namaka Health Centre. Managed by Airports Fiji, the renovation aims to improve the aging healthcare facilities across the country. The project is slated to last between nine to twelve months, during which residents are encouraged to seek medical attention at the Blackrock Medical Centre or Nadi Hospital.
This decision is part of a broader series of initiatives by the Ministry to enhance healthcare infrastructure nationwide. Previous projects, like those at Kamikamica Health Centre and Vunisea Hospital, demonstrate a sustained commitment to upgrading healthcare services. These renovations are essential steps in rectifying structural weaknesses, as seen with the maintenance work at Navua Hospital.
