The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced the passing of Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, who died on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The ministry expressed profound sadness over his loss, following the completion of traditional protocols.

Dr. Tudravu dedicated over thirty years to Fiji’s health sector, earning recognition for his exceptional service. After completing his specialist training at Newcastle Hospital in Australia, he served as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and later advanced to serve in several senior leadership roles, including Medical Superintendent at Lautoka Hospital and the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Chief Medical Advisor, and Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.

He became the Permanent Secretary in February 2024, earning respect for his humility, integrity, commitment, and compassion throughout his tenure. Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, the Acting Permanent Secretary, extended heartfelt condolences to Dr. Tudravu’s family, friends, and colleagues, honoring his life and the significant legacy he leaves behind.

Dr. Tudravu’s contributions to the health sector significantly impacted the lives of many Fijians, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. His dedication and leadership will be remembered as a guiding light in the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare in Fiji.
