The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced the death of its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, who passed away yesterday. Dr. Tudravu had an impressive career in Fiji’s health sector, spanning over thirty years. Initially serving as an Orthopaedic Surgeon after completing his specialist training at Newcastle Hospital in Australia, he later took on senior leadership roles, including Medical Superintendent at both Lautoka Hospital and the Colonial War Memorial Hospital. Additionally, he served as Chief Medical Advisor and held the position of Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.

Dr. Tudravu was appointed Permanent Secretary in February 2024, and the Ministry has described his leadership style as one marked by humility, integrity, commitment, and compassion. His contributions to the field and the community are deeply appreciated, and he is remembered for the significant impact he made throughout his career.

The Ministry has extended its sincere condolences to Dr. Tudravu’s family, friends, and all those who had the honor of working alongside him, recognizing the enduring legacy he leaves behind. In the interim, Dr. Luisa Cikamatana is serving as the Acting Permanent Secretary.
