The 2025 Futsal Inter-District Championship is set to be an exhilarating tournament, as the pools for the competition have just been unveiled. The defending champions, Suva, will face an uphill battle in Pool B, where they will compete against strong teams including Ba, Labasa, and Nasinu. Pool A presents its own level of competition, comprising Lami, Tailevu/Naitasiri, Lautoka, and Rakiraki, with Lautoka and Tailevu/Naitasiri appearing as formidable contenders.
Anushil Kumar, the General Manager of Operations for the Fiji Football Association, expressed enthusiasm about the elevated competition in the national futsal league this year, which promises to create a dynamic atmosphere for the championship. He highlighted Rakiraki as a team to watch, noting their strong performance in the Extra Futsal League where they secured second place, proving their capability to challenge established teams like Lautoka and Nadi.
Kumar conveyed optimism about the tournament, assuring that fans can look forward to exciting and fast-paced matches as teams vie for the coveted Futsal IDC title. The event is scheduled to run from October 16 to 19 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva. Notably, to promote local futsal, all matches will offer free entry for spectators, aiming to create a vibrant atmosphere for both fans and players.
As the fixtures are set to be announced soon, anticipation for this year’s Futsal IDC is on the rise. The championship promises a thrilling showcase of Fiji’s sporting talent while also fostering a sense of community through the shared passion for futsal.
