Fiji’s National Futsal Head Coach, Jose Gerardo, has praised the dedication of coaches from the Northern Division following a successful three-day Futsal Coaching Course held at the Fiji FA Academy in Labasa last weekend. The initiative gathered 15 coaches from various regions including Dreketi, Bua, Udu, Savusavu, and Labasa, as part of Fiji FA’s ongoing efforts to enhance futsal at the grassroots level.

Gerardo noted the remarkable enthusiasm exhibited by the participants, emphasizing their commitment to promoting futsal within their local communities. He expressed particular encouragement at the participation of a female coach from Udu Point, who balances her coaching role with teaching at a school, highlighting the important role of educators in fostering young talent in the sport.

The course aimed to deepen the coaches’ understanding of futsal fundamentals, coaching techniques, and essential game concepts, which Gerardo believes will elevate the overall skill level of futsal in the Northern Division. Looking ahead, he confirmed that the next coaching course is scheduled to take place in the Western Division, with Ba hosting the upcoming three-day session from Wednesday to Friday this week.

The widespread participation and commitment of coaches demonstrate a promising outlook for the future of futsal in Fiji, contributing to the sport’s growth and engagement at the community level.
