Fiji National Futsal head coach Jose Gerardo has expressed appreciation for the dedication demonstrated by coaches from the Northern Division during a successful three-day Futsal Coaching Course at the Fiji FA Academy in Labasa. The event brought together 15 participants representing the regions of Dreketi, Bua, Udu, Savusavu, and Labasa.

Highlighting the evolving landscape of futsal, Gerardo noted the participation of a female school teacher from Udu Point, which underscores the sport’s expanding influence within schools. “I’m very happy with the response from the North; the coaches were eager to learn and showed great interest in developing futsal in their respective districts,” Gerardo remarked.

The course not only enhanced the skills and knowledge of the coaches but also played an essential role in bolstering grassroots futsal initiatives across the Northern region. Following the successful completion of this program, Gerardo has announced that a similar coaching course will be held in the Western Zone this week, as part of Fiji FA’s ongoing commitment to nationwide development.

Gerardo emphasized the importance of providing consistent training and support to coaches across all regions, ensuring that everyone involved in futsal development is equipped with the necessary tools to thrive. This ongoing commitment to advancing the sport reflects a hopeful future for futsal in Fiji, as grassroots efforts continue to grow and flourish across the nation.
