Fiji Eyes Pacific Outsourcing Lead at BPO Exchange 2025 in Sydney

Fiji is preparing to highlight its rapidly growing business process outsourcing (BPO) sector at the BPO Exchange 2025, scheduled to take place in Sydney next week. This participation underscores Fiji’s ambition to establish itself as the premier outsourcing hub in the Pacific region.

Morika Hunter, President of Outsource Fiji, emphasized that this event marks a pivotal moment for the nation, showcasing its capabilities and competitiveness in the global market. She noted the sector’s growth has been fueled by strong collaborations among private businesses, government agencies, and development partners. Investments in vital areas such as infrastructure, digital policies, and workforce training have significantly contributed to this expansion.

The Fijian workforce, renowned for its professionalism and empathy, is a key advantage that appeals to international clients. Josefa Wivou, Executive Director of Outsource Fiji, added that the Sydney event is a continuation of previous initiatives that have successfully enhanced Fiji’s image as a reliable nearshore partner with a focus on people-oriented solutions.

This event will offer valuable networking opportunities for industry leaders and serve to position Fiji as a key player in customer experience, IT, finance, and back-office services. It follows on from the Contact Centre Symposium 2025, which garnered significant interest from Australian businesses looking for outsourcing collaborations. The government’s proactive efforts to establish a “BPO village” within the Kalabu Tax Free Zone are aimed at improving digital connectivity and attracting international companies.

Fiji’s outlook for its outsourcing sector remains optimistic, particularly in terms of job creation. Efforts are underway to generate approximately 25,000 jobs over the next five to ten years, focusing on engaging youth and women, who represent a substantial part of the labor force. Currently, about 8,000 individuals are employed within the BPO sector.

As Fiji aims to strengthen its presence in the outsourcing industry, ongoing innovation and strategic collaborations will play a crucial role in driving sustained economic growth and diversification. The upcoming BPO Exchange offers a significant platform for Fiji to demonstrate its commitment to fostering a resilient and inclusive outsourcing sector, ultimately contributing to economic empowerment and job opportunities.
