Fiji’s economic prospects and evolving trade opportunities will be a focal point at the upcoming 29th Australia-Fiji Business Forum, according to Council President Zane Yoshida. Describing the forum as a long-standing platform for enhancing trade and investment between Australia and Fiji, Yoshida anticipates a showcase of Fiji’s diversified economy, built on centuries of robust business relationships.
The forum, set to take place from October 22 to 24, 2025, at the Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel on the Gold Coast, serves as an invitation for businesses from both countries to interact with senior policymakers and industry experts. Yoshida urges Australian and Fijian enterprises to leverage the event as a unique opportunity to explore potential collaborations in various sectors including infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, and business process outsourcing.
He highlighted the importance of this engagement, stating, “I encourage all businesses with an interest in Fiji and the Pacific to join us, as together we chart the course for the next phase of our partnership and growth.”
Prominent speakers at the event will include Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica, Finance Minister Biman Prasad, and Westpac economist Justin Smirk, among others. The forum will also host representatives from Investment Fiji, the Asian Development Bank, KPMG, and several Australian trade and infrastructure agencies.
This event follows a recent joint business forum between the Fiji-Australia Business Council and the Australia-Fiji Business Council, which attracted over 200 delegates and included key discussions on various investment opportunities in Fiji. Keynote sessions addressed the tremendous potential in sectors such as agriculture and tourism, alongside ongoing infrastructure projects that could reach a value of F$6 billion by 2030.
The positive energy surrounding these forums indicates an optimistic outlook for bilateral relations and economic collaboration, underscoring the potential for creating sustainable growth through innovative partnerships. As Fiji continues to diversify its economy, the upcoming Business Forum promises to play a crucial role in shepherding this transformation and expanding trade relations across the Pacific region.
