Fiji’s Exports to Australia Rise as Women-Led MSMEs Lead the Way

Fiji Exports Hit $68M Milestone as PTI Backing Boosts MSMEs and Women-Led Ventures in Australia

PACIFIC Trade Invest Australia has reported that since the start of 2023, Fijian exports have surpassed $68 million, alongside $5 million in new investments that have provided significant support to women-led businesses by backing 423 ventures. This announcement was made during a recent meeting between PTI officials and Fiji’s Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, who was visiting Australia.

During the meeting, the expanding digital footprint of Fiji and the active participation of exporters in Australian trade events were highlighted. Notable products showcased included Marama Vanilla and Fiji Fire. Deputy Prime Minister Kamikamica praised PTI’s crucial role in assisting Fijian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with their access to the Australian market. With the help of financial assistance, freight subsidies, and training programs, PTI has benefited over 700 entrepreneurs, equipping them with the necessary skills to enhance their market readiness.

The discussions also touched upon initiatives related to the green and blue economies, including Fiji’s growing plastic credit market, advances in renewable energy, and the upcoming Impact Investment Summit slated for 2026. The PTI team emphasized their ongoing support for Fiji’s agricultural commercialization, aquaculture expansion, and climate-smart farming initiatives, all aimed at bolstering food security and decreasing dependency on imports.

This optimistic development aligns with previous engagements by the Fiji Trade Commission in Australia, which reported facilitating $33 million in exports and securing multiple foreign direct investments, underscoring the commitment to reinforcing economic relations between Fiji and Australia. With a shared objective of enhancing trade and investment partnerships, the future appears bright for Fijian exporters, promising greater opportunities for local businesses and community upliftment.
