Fiji Expands Gulf Ties as Kuwait Diplomacy Gets Underway

Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya, has officially commenced his role as Fiji’s non-resident Ambassador to Kuwait after presenting his Letters of Credence to the country’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. This important ceremony aims to bolster the diplomatic, economic, and developmental ties between Fiji and Kuwait.

In his address during the event, Ambassador Koya conveyed warm greetings from Fiji’s President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, and the Fijian people. He highlighted Fiji’s goal to enhance labor mobility for Fijian citizens within the Gulf region, focusing on key industries including healthcare, hospitality, security services, and technical trades.

Ambassador Koya also expressed Fiji’s commitment to collaborating with Kuwait in various sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, climate-resilient infrastructure, agriculture, and clean energy initiatives. He underscored Fiji’s readiness to form partnerships with both public and private organizations, recognizing the potential for shared benefits.

Furthermore, the Ambassador acknowledged the significant contribution of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and indicated Fiji’s interest in pursuing future collaborations.
