The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Jerusalem has issued a critical security advisory to all Fijian nationals residing in Israel due to escalating military tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The advisory, communicated by Fiji’s Ambassador to Israel, Jesoni Vitusagavulu, indicates that air defense systems and sirens have been activated across central and southern regions of Israel in response to multiple missile and drone launches. Fortunately, Israel’s advanced multi-layered defense systems are currently operational, ensuring a level of safety.

The Embassy has confirmed that all Fijian citizens are safe, with no incidents reported affecting Fijian students in Ramat Negev, embassy personnel, or their families in Jerusalem. However, the situation has necessitated the issuance of heightened precautionary measures. Fijian nationals are urged to adhere to shelter-in-place protocols and seek immediate refuge in reinforced safe rooms upon hearing sirens or receiving alerts.

In addition, individuals are advised to prepare emergency “go-bags” containing essential documents, medications, and water supplies, to ensure their readiness in case of escalated emergencies. The Embassy has encouraged avoiding military installations, government buildings, and large crowds while advising citizens to remain informed through official updates from Israel’s Home Front Command.

The Fijian Mission emphasizes its ongoing communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade in Suva and local security agencies, urging Fijians to maintain calm and support one another during this uncertain time. This proactive approach illustrates the importance of preparedness and personal safety in the face of potential threats, ultimately aiming to foster a sense of community and resilience among Fijians abroad.
