The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has officially announced the appointment of Anaseini Senimoli as the Acting Deputy Supervisor of Elections, effective November 14, 2025. This decision was made by the Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Ana Mataiciwa, who recognized Senimoli’s years of dedication to enhancing Fiji’s electoral processes.
Senimoli, who has served as the FEO’s Director of Operations for the past decade, played a pivotal role in managing crucial components during the 2018 and 2022 General Elections. Her promotion to the Acting Deputy Supervisor position underscores the FEO’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its leadership as the nation prepares for upcoming electoral events.
In her announcement, Ms. Mataiciwa praised Senimoli’s professionalism and extensive operational experience, stating, “I have full confidence in her ability to support the FEO’s strategic direction and ongoing preparations for future elections.” This sentiment reflects the office’s recognition of the vital role that leadership plays in fostering trust and efficiency in electoral management.
Senimoli’s experience is not only extensive but also rooted in a deep understanding of the electoral landscape, having worked under five prior Acting Deputy Supervisors. Hailing from Drue village in Sanima, Kadavu, she also has familial ties to Votua village in Lekutu, Bua, further connecting her to the local communities she serves.
Her ascension to this critical role comes at a time when the FEO is facing challenges, such as staffing vacancies that have previously raised concerns about operational efficiency and governance. Past discussions highlighted the importance of fully staffing key positions to ensure a seamless electoral process. The FEO is committed to addressing these issues, with recent efforts to fill vacancies and improve overall operational capacity, fostering a proactive stance toward electoral integrity.
The FEO has also made strides in modernizing its operations through significant digital upgrades aimed at enhancing data integrity and transparency. These efforts are crucial as the nation looks toward its next electoral cycles, ensuring that citizens can participate in the democratic process confidently and securely.
As the Fijian Elections Office moves forward, the proactive measures being implemented, including inter-agency collaborations and ongoing improvements in technology, embody a hopeful outlook for Fiji’s democratic future. These developments signify a concerted effort to build public trust and enhance the electoral framework in preparation for the forthcoming elections.
