Fiji Drug Crackdown: Seven Detained in Coordinated Raids Targeting a Meth Network

Seven individuals have been detained following a series of coordinated raids executed by the Fiji Police Force along with various supporting departments. The raids, targeting locations in the Central and Southern Divisions, were conducted by the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, the Detector Dog Unit, the Police Mobile Force, and the Fiji Immigration Department on September 23, 2025. Among those apprehended are a Fijian citizen and six foreign nationals.

The operations concentrated on areas within Suva, specifically in Flagstaff and Rewa Street. Significant quantities of white substances, later identified as methamphetamine by the Fiji Police Forensics Science Services, were confiscated. Additionally, both local and foreign currencies, suspected to be the proceeds of criminal activities, were seized during these raids.

As part of the ongoing investigations, authorities have confirmed that parallel operations took place in the Western Division, although further details have yet to be disclosed. The suspects are currently being interrogated as the authorities aim to uncover broader aspects of this case, which seems to align with increasing efforts by the Fiji Police Force to curb illegal drug trade across the country.

This crackdown is seen as part of a broader strategy to address the rising issue of drug trafficking within the nation. The collaboration between various police units and departments underlines the commitment to tackling organized crime and its impacts on society. The involvement of so many departments showcases a determined effort to not just seize illegal substances but also dismantle the networks facilitating these criminal activities.

As investigations continue, the authorities are hopeful for significant progress in identifying and prosecuting the individuals behind these operations. This further underscores the importance of community cooperation and the crucial role of intelligence-led policing in combatting such serious organized crimes.
