Two Chinese nationals, Wang An and Xu Qiang, both 28 years old, are embroiled in allegations of drug-related offenses in Fiji. The pair appeared in Nadi Magistrates Court after being apprehended in Martintar, Nadi, and Vuda, Lautoka while on tourist visas. They face charges of unlawful possession of illicit drugs. Their court proceedings faced initial delays due to the absence of a translator, but they have since been assisted by a court-appointed Mandarin translator. Wang and Xu have also expressed their intention to secure private legal representation.

Wang reported $7,000 and his passport as missing, while Xu noted a loss of $6,020. They have requested police assistance to file formal complaints about these disappearances. Magistrate Mareta Tikoisuva has directed them to provide a written alibi during their next court appearance. The case is due to be transferred to the Lautoka High Court for further proceedings on October 6.
