Fiji Delegation Showcases Peace Education Initiatives at HWPL World Peace Summit

A five-member delegation from Fiji participated in the 11th Anniversary of the HWPL World Peace Summit held on September 18–19 in Cheongju, South Korea. Organized by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), this year’s summit convened over 800 global leaders under the theme “Uniting for Peace and Fulfilling Humanity’s Duty Together.”

The Fijian delegation comprised representatives from various sectors, including education, religion, and youth. Key figures included Adam Zoran Ali, Head of Interface Search Fiji, Esira Salusalu Tunidau, Pastor of the AOG Church, Bimal Deo, Head of Lautoka Scouts and Messenger of Peace, Amrit Prakash Sharma, Vice Principal of AOG High School, and Ioane Nawaikula, Secretary-General of the National Youth Council of Fiji.

During the summit, the delegation engaged in a roundtable discussion titled “Hope in Fiji – i-Taukei Project,” where they identified key peacebuilding initiatives focused on Fiji. Notable projects included the i-Taukei Peace Education Program aimed at preserving language and identity alongside promoting peaceful values, a Religious Leaders’ Peace Leadership Program to bolster interfaith harmony, and a Peace Drawing Contest for youth across Fiji and the Pacific. Mr. Sharma proposed a digital format for the contest to ensure wider access for primary school students, while Mr. Deo highlighted the importance of unity among iTaukei and Indo-Fijians, reflecting on the need for collaborative reconciliation amid historical conflicts. His contributions earned him the role of advisor to HWPL Fiji.

Additionally, discussions led by Mr. Nawaikula focused on aligning youth policies with broader international cooperation, collaborating with organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The conference not only emphasized HWPL’s expanding influence in education, religion, and international law but also showcased the integration of peace education programs into national curricula, as seen in countries like Zambia and Mongolia.

The event included a significant session on the 2025 International Conference on Preparing for Peaceful Korean Reunification, underscoring HWPL’s commitment to facilitating inter-Korean exchanges and educational programs supporting unification.

The Fijian delegation plans to work closely with the HWPL Fiji branch to implement the initiatives discussed, reinforcing Fiji’s role in the evolving landscape of global peace efforts. This collaborative spirit and dedication to peace signal a hopeful outlook for fostering a culture of harmony both in Fiji and internationally, aligning with broader initiatives that emphasize the importance of local action in achieving global peace.
