Fiji Dairy Farm Doubles Milk Output, Wins National Award

Fiji Dairy Limited has taken a significant leap in its milk production, doubling its daily output at the Tailevu farm. This notable increase to 1,200 liters per day from 600–700 liters is a result of improved feeding strategies, targeted training, and strategic direction under the leadership of Farm Manager Vimlesh Raja. Key practices contributing to this success include regular talanoa sessions, advanced calf care, and enhanced pastures utilizing Juncao and Siteria grasses.

Key support from the Ministry of Agriculture has been instrumental, particularly through the introduction of Brown Swiss cattle breeds, which further augmented dairy production. As recognition of its efforts, the farm received the prestigious Dairy Farmer of the Year Award at the 2025 National Agriculture Show in Nadi, underscoring Fiji’s commitment to achieving greater milk self-sufficiency.
