The High Court in Suva has denied Apisai Madigibuli’s fourth request for bail, emphasizing that unless he demonstrates a significant change in circumstances, the chances of being released on bail are very slim. Justice Dane Tuiqereqere delivered this decision, reinforcing the gravity of the charges against Mr. Madigibuli, who is accused of the brutal murder of his pregnant wife, Kitiana Baravilala, on April 25 of last year.

In his bid for bail, Mr. Madigibuli expressed concerns about potential health risks, including a fear of contracting HIV and other diseases due to conditions in custody, such as the use of shared shaving blades and exposure to gases from nearby factories. However, Justice Tuiqereqere found that he had not provided sufficient evidence to support these claims, leading to the court’s refusal of bail.

Consequently, Mr. Madigibuli remains in custody, and the case has been adjourned until December 23. This ruling underscores the serious nature of the allegations and the court’s commitment to ensuring justice is served. As the legal proceedings move forward, the focus will remain on upholding the rights and safety of all involved.
