Fiji: Patience, Progress, and the Infrastructure Push

Fiji Coalition Pledges Steady Infrastructure Upgrades Guided by Public Feedback

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has reiterated the Coalition Government’s commitment to meeting public expectations and enhancing Fiji’s infrastructure. In a recent interview on FBC TV’s Your Voice, he reflected on the advancements made since the government’s inception but acknowledged that many long-standing infrastructural challenges remain.

Prasad pointed out that, despite significant progress over the past two and a half years, comprehensive repairs and upgrades take time. He reassured citizens of the government’s dedication to gradual improvements, emphasizing the positive feedback received from the public regarding the government’s achievements so far. “Many people appreciate how much this government inherited and what has been accomplished,” he stated.

The minister also highlighted the growing willingness among citizens to voice their concerns, viewing this as a fundamental part of nurturing a transparent democracy. He welcomed this open dialogue and underscored the importance of addressing public feedback to enhance governance further.

In discussing key initiatives, Prasad acknowledged that significant projects, such as those aimed at minimizing non-revenue water, will require time to materialize. Nonetheless, he expressed confidence in the progress being made toward these objectives. “What matters is our commitment to act and see that things get done,” he affirmed. This sentiment reflects previous comments regarding the government’s proactive approach to healthcare and infrastructure issues that are top of mind for many Fijians.

Prasad’s optimistic perspective on the government’s direction highlights a broader commitment to building a resilient Fiji. By embracing constructive criticism and taking action based on community feedback, the government is laying the groundwork for long-term stability and improvement. With a focus on enhancing public services and infrastructure, the Coalition Government is paving the way for a brighter future for all Fijians, emphasizing a collaborative approach to national development.
