Fiji’s men’s rugby sevens captain, Jerry Matana, has expressed immense pride in his team’s resilience following their impressive back-to-back victories at the Singapore 7s tournament. In the final, Fiji secured a 21-12 win against France, marking their second consecutive title at this event and propelling them to the top of the World Series standings with 52 points.

Reflecting on their journey, Matana praised his players for their ability to bounce back after facing challenges earlier in the series. He highlighted their determination and hard work, particularly after conceding points to teams like South Africa. “I’m so proud of the boys, and I want to thank them for their hard work and their striving to do after conceding a few points to South Africa and the other teams. We came back; we came back stronger,” Matana noted.

The Singapore tournament has demonstrated to be a positive venue for Fiji, and Matana acknowledged the team’s enthusiasm for competing there. “Of course, like I said in a press conference, we love playing in Singapore,” he added.

Looking forward, Fiji is set to face a challenging lineup at the upcoming tournament in Perth, where they will encounter tough opponents such as Spain, Argentina, and South Africa. Rugby fans can catch all of Fiji’s matches live on FBC TV.

This recent success underscores Fiji’s tenacity and their ability to overcome obstacles, fostering hopes for continued achievements in future tournaments. With their ongoing growth and resilience, the team looks poised for further triumphs on the international stage.
