Reverend Dr Semisi Turagavou, the President of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma, has delivered heartfelt Christmas greetings to the people of Fiji, calling on citizens to contemplate the true essence of this cherished festive season.
In his message, Rev Turagavou emphasized that Christmas is not just a holiday but a significant opportunity for families, villages, and communities to unite in gratitude for God’s love. He underscored the importance of the birth of Jesus Christ, which serves as a pivotal event in the Christian calendar, reflecting God’s enduring presence and unconditional love for all individuals.
“A meaning that we celebrate not only the coming of God from heaven to earth, but we are celebrating the presence of Christ in our world. We celebrate the love of God. God loves everyone,” stated Rev Turagavou, reminding everyone that divine love transcends all differences, including skin color and cultural backgrounds. This universal love highlights the shared humanity that binds people together.
Moreover, Rev Turagavou stressed the significance of unity within communities, encouraging people to embrace this season as an occasion to recognize God as both the Creator and Sustainer. He urged individuals to renew their commitment to caring for one another and for the world we inhabit, reinforcing the idea that together, we can create a more compassionate and united community.
As Fiji approaches the festive season, this message of love and unity serves as a hopeful reminder of the positive impact that togetherness can have in fostering a supportive society.
