Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has expressed sincere gratitude toward the Asco Foundation for its generous donation of 50 laptops, aimed at enhancing ICT-based learning across schools in Fiji. This contribution was officially announced this week and is set to benefit schools, particularly those located in remote and maritime areas, thus helping to bridge the digital divide and provide access to modern educational tools.
Radrodro emphasized the significance of these laptops in his remarks, quoting the late Steve Jobs who once noted that learning to program and work with computers fosters creative and critical thinking in young people. He encouraged students to develop essential skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and communication as they prepare for the challenges of an increasingly evolving world.
“This timely and thoughtful donation will go a long way in improving access to quality education and promoting digital literacy in our schools,” Radrodro stated. He extended his heartfelt thanks on behalf of the government, teachers, and students across Fiji to the Asco Foundation for their unwavering support.
Furthermore, the Minister urged both teachers and students to effectively utilize these new resources and integrate digital tools into their learning environments. He noted that technology not only modernizes classrooms but can also enhance motivation, creativity, and overall performance, thus paving the way toward a more interconnected and innovative education system.
This donation aligns with ongoing efforts in Fiji to improve educational resources and supports the government’s commitment to closing the digital gap. Just recently, similar initiatives across the nation, including donations of computers and upgrades in educational facilities, have aimed to enrich learning environments and better equip students for future success. As these progresses unfold, there remains a hopeful outlook for students, who will benefit from enhanced digital literacy and more effective educational experiences.
