A 41-year-old man has been detained by police following an attempt to bribe a police officer during a joint traffic initiative with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Sigatoka. The incident unraveled on the Queens Road near Koromumu when the man’s vehicle was stopped for a routine check.
As per the police report, the suspect, who was a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly offered a $200 bribe in exchange for bypassing additional checks. Authorities swiftly detained him, and a search revealed dried leaves believed to be marijuana in his possession.
Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the Sigatoka Police Station, and the substances found were submitted for forensic examination.
