The Fiji Meteorological Service has announced that Tropical Depression TD07F is currently positioned well to the west of Fiji and is not anticipated to develop into a tropical cyclone. As of 6 a.m. today, the depression was located at approximately 21.8°S, 173.6°E, which is around 580 kilometers west-southwest of Kadavu and 800 kilometers west of Ono-i-Lau.

Moving southward at a brisk pace of about 38 kilometers per hour, TD07F is entering a less favorable environment that will likely inhibit any further intensification, according to meteorologists. While the system is weakening, it continues to produce rainbands and strong northwesterly winds impacting various regions across Fiji. The Yasawa and Mamanuca islands, along with western Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, are among the areas experiencing these adverse weather conditions. Notably, last night, Nadi recorded a peak wind gust of 70 kilometers per hour.

The Fiji Meteorological Service is committed to closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as needed. This dedicated approach aims to keep residents informed and safe as they navigate the weather patterns resulting from TD07F. The encouraging news is that the depression is not expected to intensify, allowing both the authorities and the public to focus on preparedness and safety while they manage the effects of the current weather.
