The Fiji Meteorological Service has raised an alert concerning heavy rain and strong winds associated with Tropical Disturbance TD03F, which is currently influencing weather conditions across the nation. In an update provided this afternoon at 1 PM, the Met Service indicated that TD03F is gradually moving over waters east of the Solomon Islands and north of Vanuatu. While the system shows a low chance of evolving into a tropical cyclone in the next five days, it is expected to bring significant weather changes.

Forecasts suggest that TD03F will track southeastward and is likely to enter Fiji’s waters between Tuesday and Wednesday, carrying with it periods of intense rainfall and fresh to strong winds. As a precautionary measure, the Met Service has warned of possible flash floods and river flooding, particularly during the transition period from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Beginning Monday night, an increase in rainfall has been anticipated as the system nears Fiji, with heavy rain and thunderstorms already affecting multiple regions throughout the country. Residents are strongly urged to remain alert and take necessary precautions against the possible severe weather conditions that may arise in the coming days. By being prepared, communities can better ensure their safety and mitigate the impacts of the impending weather system.
