A severe rain warning has been issued for the entire Fiji Group, prompting officials to urge the public to stay alert as unstable weather persists. According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a flash flood warning is currently in place for all of Viti Levu.

Low-lying and flood-prone areas near the Nakauvadra River at Rakiraki Town, as well as the Naseyani area at the Yaqara River, the Tavua River, and the flood plains of the Ba River are under flood warnings. Additionally, flood alerts are in effect for vulnerable areas adjacent to the Nadi, Nawaka, and Tuva rivers in Nadroga.

A strong wind warning has also been issued for land areas in the Western Division, including the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands, Kadavu, and several nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Macuata, Bua, Taveuni, and their surrounding areas. Weather officials report that an active trough of low pressure, along with associated rainbands and strong northwesterly winds, continues to impact the region.

For the Western Division and the surrounding islands, winds are anticipated to be strong and northwesterly, averaging around 45 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 75 km/h, though these are expected to ease into more moderate conditions later in the day.

Authorities advise the public to adhere to official weather warnings, exercise caution around flooded areas and river crossings, and take necessary safety measures as the situation develops. As Fiji prepares for these weather challenges, community resilience and readiness will be crucial in overcoming any potential impacts.
