A heavy rain alert has been issued across the entire Fiji group, urging residents to stay alert as the region experiences ongoing unsettled weather. The Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that a shallow low-pressure system is slowly moving near Kadavu and is expected to drift towards the southern parts of the country over the next few days.

This weather system is associated with a trough of low pressure that is influencing Fiji’s weather, resulting in widespread cloud cover and rain throughout the area. In addition, Tropical Depression TD03F is positioned to the far northwest of Fiji, close to Vanuatu, and is also contributing to the unstable conditions.

As a result of these weather patterns, residents can expect occasional rain that may be heavy at times, along with thunderstorms in various regions. The persistent heavy rainfall raises concerns about potential flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, forecasters predict that the trend of occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue across most areas, with the risk of flash flooding remaining high due to the ongoing precipitation. The community is advised to take precautions and monitor weather updates closely as the situation develops.
