Fiji Boxing Hope Rises as Hill Bids for Pan Pacific Welterweight Title

Fiji boxing shines as Winston Hill eyes Pan Pacific title on world stage

Fiji Boxing Commission chairman Adi Nayaran has lauded Winston Hill’s upcoming match for the Pan Pacific welterweight title as a significant milestone for the sport in Fiji. Nayaran expressed his pride in having a Fijian fighter competing on a prominent international stage, a scenario he believes will serve as motivation for young and aspiring boxers across the nation.

“We are very happy and will support him all the way. Should he win the title, we will have a Pacific champion,” Nayaran stated. Hill is prepared to face Australia’s Ben Mahoney in the prestigious Ring Magazine Cruiserweight World Titles event taking place in Australia. Mahoney, known as Sydney’s Golden Boy, boasts an impressive 15-fight record, with eight victories coming by way of knockout.

Hill, on the other hand, has an unblemished professional record of seven wins, six of which have also been by knockout. This fight not only poses a challenge for Hill but also presents a unique opportunity to enhance the visibility of boxing in Fiji. It aims to inspire the next generation of fighters to pursue excellence within the sport. The excitement building around this match emphasizes the promise inherent in Fiji’s boxing scene and the international prospects available to committed athletes.

With such opportunities at hand, the hope is that Hill’s endeavor will make waves, showing young fighters in Fiji that the pathway to success in boxing is attainable.
