Fiji Boxing Shines as Binnu Singh Wins WBA Oceania Interim Title in Second-Round KO

Junior Binnu Singh achieved a spectacular victory at the Vodafone Arena, securing a technical knockout in the second round against Apichart Klintai and claiming the Super Bantamweight WBA Oceania Interim title. The bout, part of the Stratum Construction Zeg Kings Boxing Promotions, ended just seconds into the second round when the referee intervened after a series of powerful body shots overwhelmed Klintai.

Reflecting on his triumph, Binnu expressed his desire for a rematch against Runqi Zhou, the Australian opponent who handed him a defeat earlier this year. This victory marks a significant moment not only for Binnu but also for Fijian boxing, highlighting the country’s emerging talent on the international stage.

This night was doubly triumphant for Fiji, as national champion Mikaele Ravalaca also secured the WBA Oceania lightweight title. Ravalaca demonstrated his skill with a technical knockout victory over Australia’s Francis Chua in the seventh round.

Among the evening’s results, Junior Abhay Chand faced defeat against Isikeli Senidoko by a second-round knockout, while Andrew Maloney received a technical knockout win against Pawan Kumar when the referee stopped their super bantamweight contest. Felise Nabua’s match against India’s Rohit Rohit concluded with Nabua’s corner throwing in the towel in the sixth round, leading to an early end. Additionally, Keanu Nadan achieved a swift victory with a first-round knockout of Apisai Naqica, and heavyweight champion Semi Dauloloma completed the night with a second-round knockout against Savenaca Tuiratu.

The event showcased a vibrant atmosphere with thousands of fans in attendance, further solidifying Fiji’s rising status in the boxing community. As the fighters look to future challenges, the hope is that these performances will inspire a new generation of athletes and encourage greater recognition and support for boxing in the region.
