Fiji Police have made significant strides in promoting road safety, announcing the arrest of 23 motorists for drunk driving during intensified operations conducted over the Boxing Day period. In a statement released by the police, it was noted that 19 of the arrests were made along the Suva corridor, where officers administered a total of 171 Random Breath Tests (RBTs). Additionally, four drivers were apprehended for the same offense in Nadi, underscoring the widespread nature of the crackdown.
Authorities stress that these safety operations will continue throughout the holiday season, with an increased police presence on major highways and in densely populated urban centers.
