The Fiji Bitter 2025-2026 sevens series season was officially launched this week at Paradise Beverages in Walu Bay, showcasing the company’s commitment to promoting rugby in Fiji. According to Dwain Qalovaki, Head of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability at Paradise Beverages, this tournament represents more than just a series of matches; it acts as a vital development pathway for talented young men and women across Fiji, providing critical exposure to coaches and scouts.
Qalovaki shared how a small idea has evolved into a nationwide celebration of talent, community, and national pride over the years. This year’s series marks an impressive 49 years of partnership and support for Fijian rugby provided by Fiji Bitter, the beer brand owned by Paradise Beverages.
Maxine Edwards, the Fiji Bitter Brand Manager, emphasized that the series reflects the rich culture, pride, and values inherent to the Fijian people. The season will consist of six tournaments, commencing with the Lomaiviti event in November, followed by Wairiki in December, Labasa in January, Savusavu in February, Nawaka, and culminating with the Marist 7s in Suva in March.
This launch follows the successful 2024-2025 season, during which Paradise Beverages invested over $300,000 in support of grassroots rugby. The previous seasons have laid the groundwork for aspiring athletes to flourish, leading many participants to represent Fiji at national and international levels, including the Fiji Sevens team and the Fijian Drua franchise. The ongoing efforts put forth by the organizing bodies and sponsors not only focus on high-level competition but also on forging community unity and fostering a supportive environment for players and fans alike.
As the 2025-2026 season unfolds, all eyes will be on these events that promise not only thrilling rugby experiences but also the chance to witness the emergence of the next generation of Fijian rugby stars, further enriching the cultural tapestry that is a hallmark of sport in Fiji.
