In a commendable effort to promote environmental sustainability, the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will see the planting of 170 indigenous trees in celebration of its 50th anniversary. Scheduled for March 26 to 28 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, the tournament emphasizes its dedication to ecological initiatives.

Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikaram shared that the tree-planting initiative is part of a broader commitment to environmental action, building on previous efforts that included the planting of 1,000 fruit trees in Naivucini, Naitasiri, along with organized clean-up campaigns along the Suva foreshore.

The unique ceremony will involve captains from each participating team planting one tree each, while sponsors and event directors will plant an additional 50 trees to honor the milestone of 50 years of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament. This collaborative effort is a positive reminder of the impact sports can have in fostering community spirit and environmental stewardship.
