Men’s grassroots teams competing in this year’s Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will have the opportunity to earn additional rewards, as organizers announce a new bonus initiative. Any team that wins the tournament for the first time will be granted a significant bonus of $5,000, alongside the standard prize money of $12,000.

This exciting announcement was made by Marist Club president Lawrence Tikaram during the tournament’s official launch in Suva. Tikaram emphasized that this bonus applies exclusively to teams achieving their first victory at the Marist 7s, marking a notable incentive for newcomers.

In addition to this bonus, various other incentives have been introduced across all categories of the tournament. Teams will receive $50 for every pool match they win, a move Tikaram believes will enhance competition and push teams to perform at their best.

To commemorate the tournament’s 50th anniversary, organizers also revealed plans to plant 50 trees, with each team captain participating in this initiative by planting one tree. This gesture not only highlights the milestone of the tournament but also emphasizes the event’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is scheduled to take place from March 26th to 28th, promising an exciting and competitive atmosphere as teams vie for both the title and the newly introduced bonuses.
